Quartet
From the author of "The Dresser" and "Taking Sides", this is a funny, charming and poignant play about growing old defiantly. 4 opera virtuosi wait for God (or Verdi) in a retirement home where each year they put aside their colliding egos in order to recreate their finest hour - singing the famous quartet from "Rigoletto". This bittersweet play, very much a celebration of the human spirit, enjoyed a successful West End run in 1999 and was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for the Best New Comedy. This is an amateur production.
